Dear Smirkus Family and Friends,
Just shy of two weeks left on tour, we have made it to vacationland (Maine) from our last two stops in Massachusetts. First, we had four wonderful shows presented by our good friends at North Star in the lovely town of Northampton, Mass. To learn more about North Star and their self-directed learning programs for teens please visit http://northstarteens.org/. In their downtime, the Smirkos had a relaxing stay and enjoyed time-off at Trouper Cam Zweir’s abode and spent time exploring the sights in the lovely downtown area as did the crew. I won’t lie, many trips to Harrell’s Ice Cream were made to beat the summer heat on some of our hottest show days this tour.
Next, in Newbury, Mass. we were met with cooling ocean breezes that kept spirits high. We were met by longtime friends and presenters, Theater in the Open and had four amazing shows. To learn more about their mission to “transform the magical tradition of storytelling into theater,” please visit http://theaterintheopen.org/content/.
In addition, we had our annual Boss Clown Olympics! This event happens every year and is a series of kooky clowning challenges that boosts morale for all and names one clown the Boss. This year we had a series of mime, water, ice, pie competitions and other hilarious clowning shenanigans.
As you can see, it was highly entertaining and loads of fun for all of us! A special CONGRATS to Senior Trouper Sarah Tiffin who was named champion and Boss Clown for the 2015 Circus Smirkus Big Top Tour!
‘till next time,
